Abba Eban Scholarship Founded

Queen's College, Cambridge University has set up a new scholarship in honor of the late Abba Eban. The famed Israeli statesman and orator was a graduate of the college in classics and Oriental languages, achieving the rare feat of a "triple first" – highest honors in all the disciplines he studied.

Funded by lawyer Julian Snowden of Nassau in the Bahamas, with the support of Ralph Seligman QC of Nassau, the Eban scholarship will be awarded every two or three years to a master's of philosophy student researching topics relating to international affairs.

Yesterday Eban's widow, Suzy Eban, said she was "thrilled that there will be further research into subjects that are commensurate with Abba's interests and achievements." The college flag at Queen's flew at half mast when Eban died last November, aged 87. (Charlotte Hall?)
