Security is up again at Nassau International Airport, though not as high as it was during the recent Iraq invasion.
Mark Wilson, permanent secretary at the national security ministry, yesterday told The Tribune that security levels at the airport were at their second highest level.
He said this was because of America’s announcement that it had raised its terror levels to orange or “high”.
Orange is the second highest of five levels and means that anti-US terrorists, who use large deadly attacks as their preferred method, are active, and that the “operating environment favours the terrorist” according to CNN reports.
CNN reported that though Pentagon officials say there is no specific threat against Washington, the increased security measures are a prudent precaution, given the intelligence of an imminent terrorist attack somewhere in the world.
