A morning walk turned into a frightening ordeal for a 55-year-old woman when she was held at gunpoint and sexually assaulted in broad daylight on the Eastern Road.
The woman was walking near the lighthouse at about 9:30am on Tuesday when she was violently approached by a man, police reported yesterday.
The man, described as "tall with a dark complexion", produced a handgun and forced the terrified woman into nearby bushes away from from houses and motorists in the area.
Police say he sexually assaulted the woman against her will before taking off on foot into a deeper area of the bush.
Investigations continue.
