Bahamas Gaming Expert For JHTA Annual General Meeting

The presentation, which will be held at the Wyndham Rosehall Resort & Country Club on June 14, comes at a time when Jamaica is weighing the economic potential of various forms of gaming.

Gibson is a native Bahamian and attorney-at-law who, as chairman of the Gaming Board of The Bahamas, is known for his strong advocacy of responsible gaming. He has introduced regimes and international conventions designed to regulate operations in the gaming industry.

Casino gambling has been a major tourist attraction in The Bahamas for several years, though the Gaming Act prohibits Bahamians playing in local casinos.

Gibson’s presentation on Saturday night will bring the curtain down on the two-day AGM.

The weekend begins on Friday with a welcome reception at the Sugar Mills Falls at the Wyndham.

Saturday will be a full business day with an opening address by Aloun N’dombet Assamba, minister of industry and tourism, followed by Josef Forstmayr, JHTA president.

Paul Pennicook, director of tourism, will give the Jamaica Tourist Board presentation titled “An Eye to the Future”.

In the afternoon, JHTA members will vote for their 2003/2004 council and executive in a closed session.
