Raid Was Five Days Too Late

The weekend raid in Bimini was a “good wake-up” call to the young men there who believe that money can buy anything, including the police, a resident said yesterday.

However, the resident, who spoke to The Tribune on the condition of anonymity, said the police arrived five days too late. A transshipment of drugs had already passed through Bimini.

The resident is also calling on Deputy Prime Minister Cynthia Pratt, who is responsible for the National Security, to order more raids on Bimini as the drug trade there is booming.

“You have young men up there who are only waiting on the next drug drop,” the resident said. “All of them have two or three cars costing no less than $50,000 each and they have no skills and they have no job.”
