A fellow churchman in Abaco said yesterday during a radio debate that Bishop Green should step down because Bahamas society was so volatile "that we don't need Christian leaders making such statements."
The attack came on radio Abaco from the Rev. Carlton Dorsett, president of the island's own Christian Council, who was answering a question from a secret ballot activist Gladstone 'Stone' McEwan.
Criticism during the debate focused not in Bishop Green's anti-gay remarks, but his implied threat to parliamentary democracy. He said he would become "the first live Guy Fawkes" if gay marriages were to become law in the Bahamas and he said that, while Guy Fawkes failed, he would succeed.
