“We are in the midst of sorting out some of the finer details but we are looking at June 23,” the source said….
Incumbent president Pat Bain, who heads the “Rainbow Team “and “I Fa Justice” leader Roy Colebrook are vying for the top post of the country’s largest labour organisation. Both men pulled in 1,043 votes following a recount of ballots.
When contacted, Mr Colebrook neither confirmed nor denied the date. He said he and Mr Bain have made a pact to remain silent on the matter until Labour Minister Shane Gibson returns from the International Labour Organisation meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
“Myself nor Mr Bain are making comments at this time because there still may be some ongoing talks and until such time as that is completed, we will remain silent.”
However, Guardian sources are predicting that Mr Colebrook will emerge the winner following the planned run-off elections. They believe those hotel workers who backed Samuel Duncombe in the May 26 election will throw their support behind Mr Colebrook in a bid to oust Mr Bain, who has held the post from May 2000. Mr Colebrook is employed as a bellman at Atlantis.
