The demonstration is the first industrial action taken by the union since it threatened to “take the most aggressive” approach necessary to get Mr. Moore back on the job.
Police were called in to supervise the workers but the demonstration remained peaceful.
Mr. Moore is the president of the Bahamas Electrical Utilities Managerial Union. He has been a BEC employee for the past 23years. Both unions, representing managerial staff and workers, are pushing for his reinstatement after his services were terminated by the corporation in a July 18th letter, in which it was stated that he was disruptive.
The termination was subsequently rescinded but Mr. Moore remains on unpaid leave while management reviews the issue.
