Family members of a young mentally disturbed rape victim protested outside magistrate’s court yesterday against what they considered too lenient a jail term for the child’s attacker.
Clever Wayde Thompson, 20, of 298 Naura Crest, Elizabeth Estates was sentenced to TWO YEARS at her Majesty’s Prison after admitting to raping the retarded teenager on Friday, July 25. The protesters described the sentence as “unfair.”
Thompson appeared before Magistrate Marilyn Meeres in Court 5, Bank Lane, on a charge of unlawful sex with a person suffering from a mental disorder. The court was told that he knew she was mentally challenged.
