FNM leader Tommy Turnquest yesterday charged Trade and Industry Minister Leslie Miller with a clear case of a conflict of interest as Batelco Yellow Pages Department plans to rent space to in a building owned by the minister.
Mr. Turnquest said the building in question is located next to Mr. Miller’s paint business, Sunburst Paint on Harrold Road and is called “Summerwinds Plaza”.
However, Mr. Miller dismissed Mr. Turnquest’s assertion of a conflict of interest saying that Mr. Turnquest is guilty himself of a conflict of interest by renting a house to a Supreme Court Justice when he was a Minister of the FNM government and only when Bradley Roberts, in Opposition, brought the matter to light, did Justice (Austin) Davis move out of the house. Further, he said he does not have responsibility for the day to day operations of his business interest, but his daughter does.
