The revelation was made as Antigua & Barbuda Prime Minister Lester Bird met with US Ambassador Sue Cobb and former US Ambassador to Iceland, Charles Cobb, to discuss issues relating to the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) in the run up to the organisation’s Technical Negotiating Committee hearing in Trinidad later in the month, and the Ministerial Conference due to take place in Miami in November.
During the meeting, Mr Bird apparently expressed his support for defining ‘small economies’ in time for the end of negotiations in 2005 and reiterated his country’s support for the cause of smaller nations.
