Negotiations over increased bus fees are set to continue this week between the two parties.
Mrs. Hanna-Martin took opffence at an article published in Friday’s edition of The Tribune headlined “Jitney Drivers Action Could Happen Monday”
In the article, Mr. Jacques claimed that Mrs. Hanna-Martin threatened him if his union went ahead with their plans for a massive strike to protest goverment’s proposed rate increases on their buses.
According to Mr. jacques, Mrs. Hanna-Martin told him if he went ahead with the strike that she would be “gunnun for me personally.”
He added that she said, “I know you are a good musician Mr. Jacques.”
Mr. jacques interpreted her comment to mean that the government would pull his contract with the Ministry of Tourism if the union did not withdraw their strike threat.
Yesterday, Mrs Hanna-Martin said any suggestion that she threatened Mr. Jacques was not based on fact.
