Deadlock In Hotel Union Negotiations

Both sides attened meetings in Minister peet’s office from 10am to almost 5pm yesterday afternoon with Minister Peet shuttling between two offices – one with the representatives of the hotel association, the other with the members of the union.

“We had hoped that as a result of what we thought was one of the major obstacles having been partially disposed of in the prime minister’s office yesterday that there was an opportunity for us to work our way through the remaining substantial issues in today’s discussions. Unfortunately, we encountered a number of difficulties, and regrettably negotiations came to an end,” said J. Barrie Farrington, president of the BHEA, last night.
