Festive Action Threat From BEC Workers

BEC management has been warned to solve the contentious seven-month contract negotiations immediately or face the consequences.

A threat of strike action now hangs over the yuletide season, with union members being asked to take a vote next week.

Meanwhile, a full-scale sick-out looms as a more immediate threat, according to industry sources.

Union president Dennis Williams would not comment last night but a press release issued yesterday adopted a no-nonsense tone, accusing management of using strong-arm tactics.

The vote is expected to be held on December 23 at BCPOU Hall and in the Family islands at the Labour Department and Local Government offices.
