Deputy Director of Agriculture Simeon Pinder was unavailable for comment yesterday, but it is believed that his department is consulting the food service sector to hear opinions about the possible ban.
Contrary to some media reports, the import ban is not in effect yet, but Mr. Pinder promised to contact The Tribune with a word soon.
Meanwhile, restaurants and foodstores say their beef is not coming from the farm at issue in Wasshington, nor any of the farms it supplies in the west.
Most Bahamian companies order their beef fromthe US midwest and other parts of the world.
