Comito Appointed to BHA

The Bahamas Hotel Association and the Nassau Tourism & Development Board announced a major step toward strengthening the ties between the two organisations with the announcement of the appointment of Frank Comito as Executive Vice President of the Bahamas Hotel Association.

Mr. Comito will retain staff oversight of the Nassau Tourism & Development Board during a transitional period as the Board searches for a full time senior manager.

Over the coming months the two organisations plan to work together, along with other private sector groups, to explore ways of forging strategic and administrative alliances to improve the effectiveness of both organisations.

A joint statement issued by Norman Solomon, acting chairperson of the Nassau Tourism & Development Board and Jeremy MacVean, president of the Bahamas Hotel Association stated: “The private sector can and must play a more active role in improving and developing our nation’s number one industry. We believe that by strengthening our respective organisations and building alliances, we will be better equipped to make a greater difference”.

They added: “Frank has done well in helping to build a more effective Tourism Board over the past five years, and we believe he is capable of expanding on that effort with his appointment to the Bahamas Hotel Association.”

Both association heads pointed to the critical role the Tourism Board is playing with the government at this point in time to lay the foundation for transforming the city of Nassau.

Mr. Comito brings to the table over 20 years of experience working with private sector nonprofit organisations. He previously worked with the Chambers of Commerce in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and for the Washington D.C. based National Alliance of Business. He is married to a Bahamian, the former Donna Nguyen, and has two children. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of New Providence and serves on the Board of Directors for Safe Bahamas.
