The President of Colina James Campbell has been formally invited to appear on the Love 97 Sunday Programme “Jones and Company” to respond to a Bahama Journal article which ran last Wednesday on his company’s dealings.
The article, which was carried under the headline “Insurance Companies Raided”, said that several large insurance companies and financial analysts are expressing the view that it is not in the national interest for Colina Insurance Company to be allowed to purchase Imperial Life Assurance Company.
Government officials and regulators have expressed concerns in recent months that Colina’s pending acquisitions and mergers may be bad for competition.
But it’s a claim Colina officials continue to deny, saying that such moves would not drive up costs for customers.
In a response that appeared in the Nassau Guardian to The Bahama Journal article, the insurance company on Monday denied that it had acted in a way that would hurt the industry.
Colina claimed in its response that it has received a “clean bill of health” from local and international auditors who have independently reviewed its financial strength.
Mr. Campbell has not said whether he will appear on the show.
