Chief Superintendent Hulan Hanna in charge of crime, said Thursday that the man was caught on Wednesday by police.
Mr. Hanna said the young man was a 17-year-old resident of Golden Gates. The minor’s partner, 18-year-old, Desmond Curry of #58 Kemp Road was shot and killed Monday by a neighbour in the area.
Armed robbery
Mr. Hanna said police were also investigating an armed robbery that took place about 12 noon on Wednesday.
“A lady known as Shelly Stubbs, while walking through Woods Alley said she was approached by a dark male wearing a gray tam and a cloth tied around his face. He produced a handgun and robbed her of her handbag that contained money, a cell phone and other personal effects,” he said.
The matter remains under investigations.
Attempted robbery and stabbing
In addition, police are investigating a matter with Joseph Cyress, who said he was in the area of Second Terrace Centreville, when he was approached by a man known to him. “This person requested $1 and Cyress responded in the negative. The man then grabbed his neck chain,” Hanna said, which caused resistance from the victim.
As a result Mr. Hanna said a knife was produced by this person and Cyress was stabbed multiple times about the body. This person escaped on foot and Mr. Cyress is in Princess Margaret Hospital in stable condition.
Restaurant hold up
In other crime news, police are searching for two men who robbed the East Coast Restaurant and Bar on Prince Charles Drive at about 11.45 p.m. on Wednesday.
“Two men entered that establishment armed with handguns,” he said, and robbed the place and patrons of an undetermined amount of money. Mr. Hanna said the men escaped in a dark coloured vehicle traveling West on Prince Charles Drive.
“These persons have been described as one being of light complexion and tall, with the other short,” he said.
Investigations are also continuing in this case.
Man wanted by police
The police are also asking the public’s assistance in locating Omar Miller, 27, of Ferguson Street. He is wanted by police in connection with causing grievous harm matter. He is of 6′ 3″ frame and weighs about 170 pounds.
Mr. Miller is also described by police as “armed and extremely dangerous”. The suspect is of a dark brown complexion, with a slim build and black hair.
