Hotel and Restaurant Expo Set for April 1st

Over 50 exhibitors will present an array of products and services directed at all aspects of hotel and restaurant operations at the Bahamas Hotel Association’s (BHA) Trade Show and Expo set for Thursday, April 1st at the Wyndham Nassau Resort Convention Centre.

The expo will feature new products and services; ice sculpting, cooking and cake decorating demonstrations; rum and wine tasting demonstrations; and special workshops for attractions and excursion operators, food handlers, and purchasing and inventory control personnel.

“The BHA has managed to put together a trade show and expo this year which we believe will prove invaluable in a number of ways to management and key staff from hotels, restaurants and our allied members” stated BHA’s President Jeremy MacVean. “We urge industry participation in the exhibition and workshops which were designed with industry input in order to ensure the event meets their needs” he added.

A workshop, conducted by the Ministry of Health and Berachial Medical Clinic and Laboratory will focus on a New Certification Process for Food Handlers scheduled to be put in place shortly which will change the present system. A second workshop on New Inventory Control Software will be conducted by Bahamas Business Solutions and aimed at reducing costs and improving efficiency. A roundtable session will be held by Expedia.com, providing a general overview on The Bahamas official search engine and aimed specifically at how attraction and excursion operators can tap into this explosive booking tool.

Throughout the afternoon there will be cooking, wine tasting, ice sculpting and cake decorating demonstrations, conducted by exhibitors, The Bahamas Culinary Association, the College of the Bahamas School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies, and Bristol Wines and Spirits.

The event will be held on Thursday, April 1st from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. at the Wyndham Nassau Resort Convention Centre. There will be an official opening at 12:30, with a reception. The event is open to all owners, managers and employees of hotels, restaurants and attractions and excursions.
