Munroe claims that despite repeated requests AG Alfred Sears has failed to appoint two members to the council’s Disciplinary Tribunal.
The two judges – Justices Jeanne Thompson and Jon Isaacs – and seven lawyers have been appointed to the tribunal. But the legal body cannot function until the AG has appointed two non-lawyers, such as Archbishop Drexel Gomez. Now Munroe is set to slap a writ on the AG compelling him to appoint the two non-members so that the tribunal can begin disciplinary hearings on cases against lawyers. One big case is pending against a PLP lawyer/politician. A client has alleged that the lawyer/politician “misused” $500,000 of his money.
Besides the case filed against the lawyer/politician there are 25 other cases of complaints against lawyers waiting to be heard by the Council’s Disciplinary Tribunal.
