Ninety’ Supporters To Take Case To Queen

A resolution will be put to a public meeting tonight by the Freedom March Committee, which is trying to block Knowles’ extradition to the United States.

It will call for clemency for Knowles and urge freedom for other drug offenders wanted by the US Drug Enforcement Agency.

The Queen, as head of state, is seen by the group, as having powers to act on Knowles behalf, especially as the committee feels the Bahamas judiciary had been compromised by the DEA.

A spokesman told The Tribune: “Under the constitution, the Queen is still head of our government system. In the circumstances, it was felt right that an appeal should go to her.”
