Bahamian business executives have questioned whether this nation will attract enough tourists to sustain both Kerzner International’s expanded $1 billion Phase III project and the $1 billion redevelopment of Cable Beach being proposed by a group headed by Lyford Cay billionaire Dikran Izmirlian, The Tribune has been told.
Several sources have queried whether the Bahamas, let alone New Providence, will be able to support two mega-billion developments, especially since they will be located just a few miles apart. The questions relate not just to tourist numbers but whether the Bahamas has a large enough infrastructure and labour force to meet the needs of both developments.
