Gay Cruise Arrives Amid Controversy

The Bahamas Christian Council (BCC) has made it clear that it will not welcome ”this or any other gay cruise”.

The ship is spending the night in Nassau and leaving tomorrow morning to return to Port Canaveral, Florida.

Cruise organisers say the cruise is not exclusively gay but they have booked a large block of cabins and will be hosting special events for the ”Gay Days” guests.

Members of the BCC, led by their president Rev, Dr. William Thompson, met with Prime Minister Perry Christie on Thursday to set out their views on the cruise. Following this they said the Prime Minister understands their commitment to ”resist the attack from outsiders upon the spiritual, moral, social and cultural standards of the Bahamian people.”

In an earlier statement the BCC said it is unalterably opposed to the Bahamas becoming a playgorund for those who will try to impose their deviant lifestyles upon others.”
