Queenᄡs Counsel Dennis Morrison leads the commissionᄡs legal team. ᅠWayne Munroe represents 10 of the crew of HMBS Inagua, while Raphael Moxey appears on behalf of Sub Lieutenant Franklin Clarke.
The attorneys will make their submissions after 30 sitting days and 45 witnesses.
In January, Governor General Dame Ivy Dumont charged the commissioners to make a full inquiry into the events surrounding the detention of the motor vessel Lorequin by HMBS Inagua in Nassau Harbour on June 20, 1992.
They are investigating the discovery of cocaine onboard the vessel, the arrest of the two Dominican crew members and the events surrounding the delivery of the drugs to the Defence Force Base, Coral Harbour and then to the police drug storage room, Oakes Field.
Commissioners will present the final report to Dame Ivy. ᅠShe will in turn forward the report to the House of Assembly and Senate. ᅠ
Retired Justice Stanley Moore; former Assistant Police Commissioner Sir Albert Miller; and Anglican Archbishop Drexel Gomez are serving as commissioners.
Mr. Moore admitted during the last sitting that the entire matter has proven to be complex.
He told the officers involved in the drug scandal that the commissioners take the situation seriously as they are aware that it affects their (the officersᄡ) jobs.
The crew of HMBS Inagua has been under a cloud of suspicion since the incident 12 years ago. ᅠThe United States embassy has since denied visas to the men.
The government appointed the commission on January 21 in an attempt to resolve the speculation surrounding the incident.
