Najim Khan, general mahanger of the Wyndham Nassau and Crystal Palace Casino Resort, yesterday told The Tribune that despite several guest cancellations due to Hurricane Frances, most visitors holding reservations for the US Labour Day weekend were waiting to see the predicted path of the category three hurricane at mid week before determining whether it was safe to visit the Bahamas.
Frank Comito, executive vice-president of the Bahamas Hotel association (BHA) said no significant cancellations had been reported by the hotel sector at this time, but he added that it was still too early to tell where Hurricane Frances would go.
Mr. Comito said the BHA has been keeping members informed on the status of the Hurricane, giving updates on the storm’s position and its projected path.
Industry personnel who have questions or concerns related to hurricane preparedness can contact the BHA headquarters at 322-8381, or Basil Smith, the Ministry of Toruism’s communications director at 325-2383, or the Ministry’s director-general Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace at 302-2000.
