Radisson Golf Course Under Repair

Parts of the Radisson Cable Beach Golf Course that is home to the National Golf Team were sub-merged and poles holding the protective net in place on the driving range, were blown down. ᅠᅠ

On Tuesday, Reginald Meres Supervisor of the golf course at the Radisson said in addition to the downed poles flood greens they also experienced an モelectrical problemメ with the water pumping station and モa lot of tree damage.メ

According to Meres, in the big picture, the golf course fared well in the high winds of the hurricane and that regular play at the course should be able to resume in a matter of days. ᅠᅠ

He explained, モthe only cause for concern is some flooding on the back side of the course where there are at least three holes that we canᄡt get to because they are flooded, but we should have that pumped off within a day or two.メ

Meres said fortunately, the downed poles will not have a dramatic affect of play on the golf course but he admitted that the driving range would be out of operation until they are able to reposition the poles. ᅠᅠᅠ

More than a dozen poles fell in what seems like a chain reaction forced down by the hurricane force winds brought by Frances.

Mere was unable to estimate how much it would cost to get the course back to normal.

モAt this stage we will have to do an assessment then we will put the figures together that will include things like labor, equipment and things of that nature,メ he said.

In addition to the golf course, Frances caused damage to the fence and lighting at the softball field at the Churchill Tenner Knowles Stadium. It also damaged the spectators stands at the home field of the Bankers Softball Association at Blue Hills Complex and the Betty Kelly-Kenning National Swim Center reported Minor Damage.

The Kendal Isaacᄡs Gym, The Andre Rogers Baseball Stadium and the National Tennis Centre were all unscathed.
