Last night the Bahamas Tourist Board site still carried a special promotion, urging tourists to visit the Marsh Harbor and Treasure Cay, Abaco, just two days after that island took a direct hit from Hurricane Jeanne.
No news updates on Jeanne were posted on the Boardメs site, which instead touted vacation packages to Abaco for between $403 and $496.
The latest news on storms was posted on Friday, September 24 and touted the islands recovery from Frances, the first hurricane to hit this month.
モAll airports, deep water harbors and most hotels up and running; Grand Bahama Island promptly restoring tourism facilities,ヤ said the statement, which ironically was posted a day before Jeanne tore into the islands again.
Last night, news reports indicate areas in Freeport were flooded with as much as 6-feet of water while many houses remained roofless as trees added to furniture and appliances that littered the street.
No news was available from Abaco because of downed telephone lines.
However, no deaths were reported to date.
Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department last night still maintained its travel advisory to the Bahamas.
