Its Official! Government is a Failure!

Minister of Works and Utilities, Bradley Roberts, acknowledged Sunday that a number of key factors have combined to derail the government’s plans to fulfill certain promises made on the campaign trial.

Minister Roberts, who was a guest on the Love 97 radio programme, “Jones and Company”, was asked by host Wendall Jones whether the government was on track in delivering on its promises.

The Minister said, “We not only had the two hurricanes that happened recently, but we also had the problems of the economy of the United States brought on as a result of the terror attacks on the US in September, 2001.”

But Mr. Jones pointed out that the administration of Prime Minister Perry Christie came to office months after the attacks.

Mr. Roberts, whose credibility is almost non-existent, apparently thinks Bahamians are ignorant of the fact that the terrorist attacks on the US occurred BEFORE the PLP was elected, while they were still campaigning and making their ridiculous promises. Therefore, the downturn in the economy should have been factored into their plans and campaign promises.

“Minister, you came to office after 2002,” Mr. Jones reminded. “9/11 was behind us and you made some promises in 2002 knowing that 9/11 had occurred.”

Minister Roberts responded, “No! We are not on track. We can not bury our heads in the sand and say we are…”

The Minister proceeded to give a litany of excuses for the poor performance of his government. Nothing he said convinced listeners that the government was anything but a dismal failure.
