Two men are in federal custody in Boca Raton after trying to smuggle 900 pounds of marijuana into the country.
Officials on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection jet from Homestead, Fla., intercepted the suspicious boat and demanded that it stop Sunday as it sped toward the Gold Coast.
Two U.S. Customs boats then joined the chase and stopped the boat minutes later, less than nine miles offshore. Authorities seized $900,000-worth of 60-pound marijuana bales.
Kenrick Brown, 33, and Gary Charles Russell, 32, both of the Bahamas, were arrested and charged with attempting to illegally import narcotics, and are in custody.
