Pat Strachan, President of Bahamian Real Estate Association, criticized foreign real estate agents providing services without the appropriate license and blamed them for impairing the real estate sector on the islands.
The president of BREA emphasized that he will try to stop the unfair competition caused by non-licensed foreign real estate agents.
According to the information received from the local media, Mr. Strachan announced that the problem appeared because of agents from the USA, particularly coming from Florida, who are allowed to come to Bahamas and establish the deals with local lawyers in order to register there and sell Bahamian real estate.
Having called these activities illegal, unethical and unjust, Pat Strachan ordered the General Office of Public Prosecutor and the Immigration Department to pursue the lawbreakers in penal manner. He also applied to the Bar to apply disciplinary punishments to Bahamian lawyers involved in that mean busiess.
