Armed Robbery on Bay Street

A lone bold armed bandit robbed a Bay Street store in broad daylight on Saturday.

A man walked into the liquor store on Bay and Market Streets opposite the old Straw Market around 12:00 noon.

He walked up to the cashier and raised his shirt, revealing what appeared to be a gun in his waist-band.

The armed bandit ordered the two cashiers and two customers to the back of the store. Then he robbed the shop and two customers of an undisclosed amount of money.

The bandit was described as tall and dark. He escaped in a getaway car that was waiting through Market Street. Police have recently formed a special 60-member tourist patrol unit for the downtown area. But there were no cops around at the time of the robbery. And three cops arrived at the scene 10 minutes-after the hold-up.
