A Bahamian was fined $74,000 and sentenced to 15 months in a California jail.
Bradley McKay, 39, was slapped with the $74,000 total fine or six months in prison and given the mandatory 5-month jail sentence.
According to an online publication, a Santa Cruz Resident Magistrat’s, court alleged that shortly after 5:00 a.m. on September 16, McKay landed a twin aircraft on a private airstrip at Holland Farms in LaCovia, St Elizabeth.
A Police crew swooped down on McKay, seized the aircraft, the drugs and six containers of jet fuel and instantly charged him with illegal entry, possession of dangerous drugs, dealing in, trafficking and attempting to export 879 pounds of ganja. He pleaded guilty to the charges.
Santa Cruz police report that three others believed to have been involved in the operation, fled the area and have not been seen since.
