Speed Boat Death Probe Plea From Shopper

The News Shopper’s campaign for justice for the family of a two-year-old boy who was killed by an unmanned speed boat in the Bahamas has received 500 signatures of support in a week.

Toddler Paul Gallagher was fatally injured in 2002 when the speed boat mounted the beach he was on at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island.

Since then there has been no prosecution over his death and the same boat firm continues to operate at the resort.

The News Shopper is seeking to drum up support to push the government in the Bahamas to allow a full British police investigation into the tragedy.

Reporter Sara Nelson has been following the story for the paper, which has also gathered the support of Orpington MP John Horam.

Sara said: “Weᄡve been keeping up to date with story for a long time.

“Weᄡve written so many stories about it we thought we could actually do something about it.

“We want to get as many signatures as possible and then go to the Bahamian consulate.”
