It was another successful day for The Bahamas Air/Sea Rescue Association, as it hosted the 42nd Annual Bernie Butler’s Swim Marathon on Coral Beach.
While the fun day and a great day at the beach brought may out to the festivities, the swim itself held some good results.
Over the top swimmers in the males were 15-year-old Joshua Rigby, with a time of 43:21; followed by 15-year-old Malvin Moore with a slim margin of 43:22; and in third was 53-year-old Robbie Butler with a time of 44:03.
In the women’s category the winners were 35-year-old Sabrina Campbell in a time of 51:44; while second place was taken by 38-year -old Stacy Bradley and in third was 44-year-old Christena Pazos of Nassau.
In the 17-year-old and under female category the top two finishers were Megan Reid of Freeport in 55:11 and Sophie Paine in 1:12:18.
In 17-year-old and under males the winners were 15-year-old John Silvera in a time of 45:01; Dereck Gibbs in 49:12 and rounding out the top three was 14-year-old Dante Carey in 53:09.
Fourth place went to 16-year-old Doswell Coakley in 54:48.
In the females 29 and under the top four finishers were – 20-year-old Kadesha Culmer in 55:22; Caitlin Antoni in 55:33; Katy Barrales of Orlando, Florida in 1:04:10 and Sabrina Winer in 1:07:28. Fifth place went to Jessica Waugh in 1:12:26.
In males 29 and under the winner was 20-year-old JohnBradley in 44:43.
There were no females in the 29-39 category, but the top finishers in the 29-39 male category were 30-year-old Lee McCoy from Nassau in 47:06; 39-year-old Dr. Keino Rutherford of Los Angeles, California in 48:45; 34-year-old Brad Culmer in 57:27; Anthony Higgs of Nassau in 1:31:06; Freddie Green of London, UK in 1:51:00 and closing out in sixth place was Kyle Smith in 2:02:16.
The top five in the females 40-49 were – Jessica Robertson of Nassau in 1:01:54; Suzi Buzzi in 1:02:56; Stacy Francola in 1:03:02; Felena Burrows of Nassau in 1:08:46 and Debbie Winter in 1:19:43.
In the male’s 40-49 category the winners were – Michael Hendley in 47:24; Colin Craig in 1:09:25; John Francolla in 1:14:46; Mitchell Cartwright of Nassau in 1:15:09 and Chris Gouthro in 1:15:18.
In the females 50-59 the winners were – Fiona Horsfall in 1:11:24; Erica Paine in 1:31:01 and Hida Ingraham.
In the males 50-59 the winners were – Barry Smith in 55:47; Godfrey Waugh in 59:49; Dave Culshaw in 1:08:59 and Stephen Robinson of 1:43:48.
In the females 60 and over the top finishers were – Brigitte Pilgrim in 1:22:13 and 73-year-old Harriet Abrahall-Hos of Atlanta, Georgia in 1:37:36.
In the males 60 and over the winners were 61-year-old Craig Steward in 54:30; 66-year-oldPeter May of Alderney, Maryland, in 1:00:30; 63-year-old Dave Barrales of Orlando, Florida in 1:08:30; 60-year-old Jeff Robertson of Nassau in 1:09:53; 67-year-old Peter Higgs of Nassau in 1:10:19 and 62-year-old Kirk Antoni in 1:18:19.
