Third Man Charged In Crime Spree

Anton Roxbury, 25, appeared before Magistrate Renee McKay to face charges.

It is alleged that Roxbury along with Jamaal McSweeney and Cycil Williams II, who were arraigned two weeks ago, sexually assaulted several women in southern New Providence after breaking into their homes at gunpoint.

Roxbury was charged with two counts of rape. Police believe he raped two women, ages 42 and 36. He was also charged with two counts of forceful detention, one count of armed robbery, and receiving stolen property, which included various pieces of jewelry, a car and a work permit of one of the alleged victims.

The suspect was not required to enter a plea to those charges and the matter was adjourned to September 26.

Roxbury was also charged with breaking into the home of Leonardo Cadet back in March and stealing jewelry and other goods valued at $9,400. He also pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Additionally, Roxbury was charged with breaking into the home of Vanria Knowles last December. Magistrate McKay denied him bail and remanded him to Her Majesty’s Prison.

But before being taken away, Roxbury told the court that attorney Mario Ducille, who was not present in court, was representing him.

Roxbury told Magistrate MacKay that he was recently shot by police and that the officers were treating him inhumanely, causing extreme pain to his injured shoulder. He also told the court that he was confused about the charges against him and claimed that he was an innocent man, and that he had been framed.

Roxbury’s co-accused, Williams and McSweeney, are also on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison.
