Crystal Smith, 19, was one of two back-seat passengers in a champagne coloured Honda Accord that was travelling east on East Bay Street when it hit into a tree on the southern side of the road, police said yesterday.
Twenty-year-old Shirgregor Saunders of McKinney Drive was the driver.
In the back seat was 20-year-old Dawson Bullard of Garden Hills, who police said received slight head and chest injuries.
According to traffic reports, Ms. Smith, who received severe head injuries, died in hospital, bringing to 15 the number of traffic fatalities for the year.
This latest incident comes only two days after a 35-year-old Gregory Maurice lost his life on the streets.
According to Police Inspector Walter Evans, the McKinney Drive resident was riding his white Suzuki motorcycle around 2:20am Saturday when he collided with a Ford Escort in the Carmichael Road area, near Faith Avenue.
Police said the victim was thrown from his bike on impact.
He died a short time later in hospital.
Investigations into both matters continue.
Police on Monday were also investigating a stabbing earlier that day that has left a 31-year-old man nursing serious wounds in hospital.
Inspector Evans told The Bahama Journal that a Pinewood Gardens resident was in the Malcolm Road area when he was stabbed multiple times about the body.
In other news from the crime beat:
