A huge celebration is being planned by the governing body for tennis in the country to honor tennis great Mark Knowles for his many accomplishments on the court.
Knowles officially announced his retirement from professional tennis earlier this month. The sole flag carrier for The Bahamas playing in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) completed his last round at the U.S. Open in the men’s division with partner Xavier Malisse on August 30.
He is viewed as a staple in the history of tennis in the country. As a result, the executives in the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) are planning several educational events during the celebrations, making Bahamians young and old more aware about his many successes.
The official schedule of events for the celebrations will not be released until the upcoming weeks.
Top ranked professional male and female players are always in attendance showing support for the Bahamian who has had a great career run on the professional tour.
