While every destination receives good and bad reviews, it seems The Bahamas is receiving more than its share of bad reviews. At least that is the impression one would get from a casual visit to Trip Advisor, a top travel website known for fairly accurate consumer reviews.
Here’s a few examples, taken from just the past weekend:
“Today we take the Internet and cell phone service for granted. If you go to Atlantis, prepare to go back in time to a world where Internet is a luxury and cell phones don’t work.”
“Overrated – Tremendously over priced. Not good food. Food is horribly over priced. Service is very spotty at best. Staff not very attentive.”
“Room amenities/condition disappointing – It’s hard for me to write such a negative review because I’ve travelled a lot and rarely complain, but this hotel was simply very poor value for the dollar.”
“Horrible Customer Service – My finance and I would recommend that if you truly want to get away pay the few extra dollars to stay somewhere else. This place was a DUMP! ”
“Don’t waste your money – Our family was very excited about his trip, but as soon as we checked in the problems started.”
“Never again!! – We were forced to stay here overnight after a fire at our timeshare. Musty, stinky, dirty place.”
It would appear that the Ministry of Tourism needs to spend less money on Superbowl ads and more money on improving the tourism product. Otherwise they are shooting themselves in the foot, attracting ever more people to a destination that will only recieve more bad reviews.
