Celebrities Plug Bahamas During Satellite Media Tour

Stars of The Bahamas’ Behold advertising campaign kept the beauty of the country in the forefront for hours on April 26, doing a long series of interviews with radio and television stations across the Americas.

Bahamian-raised actor and former NBA star Rick Fox and investor and illusionist David Copperfield, who are featured in a series of Bahamas advertisements, gave interviews that were seen and heard in several key markets.  Announcers and television personalities linked with the men by satellite to conduct the interviews from cities that included Los Angeles, Toronto, Detroit, and West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Copperfield, who works seven days per week and completes 600 shows at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas each year, said he looks forward to resting 10 weeks of the year in The Bahamas, where he has invested in a luxury island retreat. He touted the experience of beholding the beauty of the country.

“When I bring my friends there, they go ‘wow,’ ” he said in one interview. “Just like when I do my show. If I do my job right, people go ‘wow.’ ”

Copperfield said people should know that the Bahamas is a special place and the spectacular color of the waters in television advertisements are not “tweeked” in any way to enhance it.

“The colors look like that for real,” he said. “Pardon the pun, but it’s really magical.”

Rick Fox endorsed the experience of meeting friendly Bahamians. He pointed out that model Shakara Ledard, who is also featured in the Behold ads, is also Bahamian. School children of Exuma also make appearances in the series.

“That’s the people of the Bahamas,” Fox said. “You will see that. You will experience it and the Bahamas is a star in itself.”

Behold made its debut as a television ad in February during the Super Bowl. Since then, television ads have been played across the United States and billboards and other print advertising are appearing in several major North American cities.

Fox and Copperfield referred viewers and listeners to the new Bahamas.com for more information about Bahamian islands, planning vacations and booking them.
