A 20-year-old male was fatally stabbed outside Club Illusion on East Bay Street around 4:30am on Sunday morning. Apparently an argument broke out between the victim and a group of men.
After the stabbing, police received reports of gunshots, vandalism and property damage also occurring at the same club.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released. He was the only one injured in the brawl, receiving stab wounds to his upper right arm. Five individuals are being questioned by the police.
His death brings the country’s murder count to 75 for the year so far.
This murder comes just 48 hours after the 74th murder was recorded. Clarence Rolle, 39, was shot and killed in the Greater Chippingham area.
Over the past few years the murder rate in the country has risen by leaps and bounds with each year breaking the record of the year before. This year appears to be no different and has already significantly surpassed the homicide count of the same time last year which stood at 69. Many expect 2010 to go down with another record-breaking homicide count.
