The Bahamas Department of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning from 9:25 pm edt until 11:25 pm edt Wednesday 31st July 2013.
A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Crooked Island, Long Island, Ragged Island, San Salvador, Rum Cay, Great Exuma, and their adjacent waters and cays.
At 9:10 pm satellite imagery indicated large clusters of showers and thunderstorms intensifying and spreading over the fore mention areas.
Some of these thunderstorms will be severe at times causing strong gusty winds, dangerous lightning, heavy downpours with flooding in low lying or flood prone areas, possible hail, and waterspout or tornadic activity.
Boaters in the warning areas should seek safe harbour and residents in the warning areas should stay indoors and away from windows when conditions worsen.
