The suicide attempt by a 22-year-old remanded inmate at Her Majesty’s Prison was foiled early this morning buy alert Prison Officers who found the inmate hanging by a make shift item in his Maximum Security cell.
There were two other inmates living in the cell at the time of the incident but prison authorities are satisfied that they were all sound asleep and unaware of the incident until officers sounded the alarm. The inmate in question was granted bail by the courts last Thursday but reportedly has so far been unable to have it signed by anyone.
Prison Superintendent Dr. Elliston Rahming praised Prison Officers for their vigilance and use of the recently introduced computer-aided Patrol Tour Guard system that verifies the extent to which officers conduct patrols during their topper of duty. The matter has been turned over to the Police for further investigations.
