Wounded Officer Dies in Hospital

47-year-old Police Inspector Archie Miller, who was shot last week during a covert police operation in Southwest New Providence, has died in hospital.

Police say Miller was accidentally shot in the chest by another officer.

He was rushed to Doctor’s Hospital, but died from the injuries on Sunday afternoon.

It is not clear if the officer who shot Miller will face charges.

This is the second officer to be shot in less than a month.

Constable Latroy Bodie, a DEU officer who was off-duty at the time, was shot several times while in the Miami Street area on November 4th.

Bodie was near the residence of a friend around 5:00am when he was ambushed and shot while sitting in his car.

Bodie drove himself near to Police Headquarters, then was taken to the hospital via ambulance.

He has since been released from hospital.
