Senior Justice Jon Isaacs issued an arrest warrant yesterday for Livingston Taylor, 44, charged with murdering Sylvia Agnes Cates in Eleuthera in 2007.
Taylor’s trial was to start yesterday. He failed to appear. He is also charged with armed robbery and housebreaking.
Mrs Cates was found bludgeoned to death in the bedroom of her Rock Sound, Eleuthera home on Sunday, October 7, 2007.
Taylor, who was arraigned on the charges back in February 2008, was subsequently granted bail pending his trial.
Taylor’s attorney could not explain to the judge why his client was not present. Taylor had apparently told his lawyer, he’d be there.
Ms Cates’ death was the second such murder of an elderly woman in Eleuthera in the past several years. Both murders appear to have been orchestrated by unscupulous attorneys in Nassau who are looking to steal over land that the women had title to.
