Stranded Bahamian Boaters Rescued

Four Bahamians stranded on their 21-foot boat for four days in the Gulf Stream were rescued Sunday by the U.S. Coast Guard 50 miles off New Smyrna Beach, officials said.

One man was unconscious and was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, said Coast Guard watch stander Roger Visconti in Jacksonville.

“Their engine died about 12 miles off Freeport,” Visconti said Sunday night.

Visconti said there was no food or water on the Bahamian boat, a center console craft.
