InsightJamaica is gearing up for the 15th annual Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference, taking place May 10 to 12 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett will deliver the keynote address, dealing with tourism investments as the key to Caribbean growth.
Bartlett also will participate in May 12’s Caribbean Ministers of Tourism Forum, where he and other tourism ministers will share their visions of investment in the region and how governments are encouraging expansion in the region.
CHTA President Josef Forstmayr will address delegates on importance of investment in the Caribbean to help maintain the economic stability of the region for years to come.
General sessions will focus on the present and future outlook for Caribbean tourism, which, according to an Oxford Economics report commissioned by the CHTA and the World Travel and Tourism Council a year ago, reported that travel and tourism in 2009 accounted for 12.8% of the region’s gross domestic product, 11.3% of employment (1.9 million jobs), 21.7% of investment in the region and 15.6% of exports.
