Lignum Vitae Fundraiser Brings In $14,000

The first annual Fiesta de Mayo, hosted by Lignum Vitae Centre of Hope, brought together hundreds of concerned citizens to help raise funds for local projects in social entrepreneurship.

“We raised over $14,000, some of which has already been put to use as we continue our efforts to implement 4-H in the Bahamas, a youth development organisation that empowers young people to emerge as leaders through hands-on learning,” LVCH officials said.

Held on Saturday, May 7, young and old alike came out to support a good cause and enjoy a night full of festivities at the Old Fort Bay Club.

Under the theme “A Cultural Fusion”, guests were promised a Latin infused evening full of entertainment. None were disappointed as they swayed to the melodies of Naomi Taylor and Willis & the Illest, watched as Latin instructor Augustus Hall ‘salsa-ed’ up a storm, and danced all night long to music selections provided by DJ CRX.
