Mahogany House Chef Beaten In Armed Home Invasion

A young American chef at a Nassau restaurant was treated in hospital for head and other injuries after being beaten in his home by armed invaders.

Dan Quirk, 25, had just returned to his Western Road residence shortly after midnight on Wednesday from his job at the Mahogany House, near Lyford Cay, when he was met inside by two men.

The men ambushed and punched him, and a struggle followed.

Mr Quirk, who moved to the Bahamas from the US to work at Mahogany House, the restaurant developed and owned by Bahamian hedge-fund manager, Mark Holowesko, received a dozen stitches to treat several cuts to his head after he was believed to have been “pistol-whipped” by the robbers.

Police said they attended the crime scene after receiving a report a man was being attacked inside an apartment on Western Road.  Upon arrival, they reported seeing at least two men jumping out of a window attempting to make an escape.

Police yesterday confirmed that four men between 15 and 29 years of age had been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
