In an operation that lasted some six hours on Sunday, officers cited drivers and hauled vehicles and motorcycles from the area for various traffic infraction.
In addition to busting 11 unlicensed stalls, Central Division officers also arrested two people who had oustanding warrants of arrest pending.
Officers of the Central Division sent a strong message to stall operators, patrons and visitors going onto Potters Cay Dock yesterday, that you will obey the law or face the consequences.
Matthew Rolle, president of the Potter’s Cay Dock Association (PCDA), wants his association to be responsible (with autonomy) for all the stalls, all the licensing and inspections. He says that most vendors are not making enough to be able to do it on their own.
The PCDA represents a total of 54 vendor stalls that line the two sides of the area and include produce vendors who occupy the middle section.
Vendors agree that stalls should not be allowed to operate without proper licensing; however, they also insist that their circumstances should be also taken into consideration.
