National Baseball Championships Rained Out

On Thursday when the National Baseball Championships got underway, it was the perfect day for baseball, with very little breeze, clear skies, a little sun and no sign of rain.

However, by Friday morning, that picture would change – drastically.

By 11 a.m. Friday morning, the skies over Grand Bahama were two to three shades of grey – from light grey to very dark grey. Sharp Lightning separated the colour dimensions and by 11:20 a.m. the rain had begun to fall.

Even before the rain began falling, the games held at the YMCA fields were stopped because of the sharp lightning.

The little league game between Long Island and Spanish Wells had to be stopped in the third inning and the 13-14 division game was also stopped.

At the GB Baseball Park, the rain was still some distance away, drenching the field at the YMCA. Umpires tried to get in as much playing time as possible at the GB baseball Park before the rain headed their way.
